Tomato thokku, Tomato curry,



Ingredients:
  •   Tomato  6 medium size
  •   Onion    2 medium size
  •   Garlic    6 cloves
  •   Ginger   1 inch piece
  •    Green chili  3 nos(split)
  •   Curry leaves few
  •   Oil  2 tbsp
  •   Sesame oil  1 tsp
  •   Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  •   Urud dal 1 tsp
  •  Chana dal 2 tsp
  •  Salt for taste
  • Chilli powder 2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder 1/2 tsp

Method:



  • Chop Tomato,Onion,Garlic,Ginger finely 
  • Heat the pan with oil add mustard,channa dal,urud dal, when mustard seeds start to splutter add curry leaves, green chili,and then add garlic and ginger fry them until the garlic turns to golden brown
  • Now add onion fry them until golder brown and then all the powder item fry them for a minute
  • Now add the chopped tomato and salt 
  • cook them until all the tomato becomes soft and the oil start to come out
  • Garnish with chopped coriander
  • Serve it with roti or rice

Semiya upma,Semiya bath

Ingredients:
    Anil Semiya   1 packet
    Water              1 cup
    Onion             1
    Green chili     4 nos
    Ginger            1 inch
    Carrot             1 small
    Beans              few
    Peas                1/4 cup
    Potato             1 small
   Tomato            1 small
   Curry leaves    few
   Oil                   2 tbsp
   Mustard seeds  1tsp
   Urud dal           1 tsp
   Channa dal       2 tsp
   Salt                  for taste

Method:

       

  •    Anil semiya is already roasted, if the semiya is not roasted roast them in dry pan for few minutes until it change it colour and then keep it separetly 
  • In the same pan add oil once the oil start to heat add mustard seeds ,Urud dal,Channa dal,Curry leaves fry them until mustard seeds start to splutter add green chili,onion,ginger cook them until onion becomes soft,add tomato cook until it is soft
  • Now add all the veg saute them few minutes add water(adding right amount of water is essential, measure the semiya in a cup take exact same amount of water boil it separately in a sauce pan) keep the water boiling in low heat
  • Now add half of the boiling water to the veg pan once it start to boil add salt and then add semiya, stir them continuously until everything combined add little by little boiling water if needed until all cooked
  •   To ovoid over cooking  add little oil while stirring semiya together and don't add more water or cold water 
  • Serve it hot with any chutney or idly podi

Radish poriyal, Radish fry

Ingredients:
        Radish with greens 1 medium size
        Onion  1
        Green chili 3 nos
        Tomato 1 small
        Oil 1 tbsp
        Mustard seeds 1 tsp
       Urud dal   1 tsp
       Cumin seeds 1 tsp
       Curry leaves few
       Salt

Method:

  • Clean and peel the Radish chop them into small cubes, wash the Radish leaves chop them into very thin stripes
  • Heat the pan add oil when it is heated add mustard seeds,cumin seeds ,urud dal, when they start to splutter
  • Add curry leaves ,chili and onion fry them until onion become soft now add chopped tomato fry them until tomato become soft 
  • Add radish sprinkle water add some salt cover and cook until radish become soft now add the greens cook them until all the water absorbed 
  • serve it hot with Roti or Rice

Broccoli fry,Broccoli garlic fry

       This yummy and simple healthy dish it can be side dish for anything like chapathi ,steamed rice



Ingredients:
          Broccoli   2 
          Onion       1
          Garlic       4 cloves
          Oil           2 tbsp
          Mustard seeds 1 tsp
          Urud dal        1 tsp
          Cumin seeds  1 tsp
          Chilli powder  1tsp
          Salt for taste

Method:

  • Clean the Broccoli separate and cut the florets more or less same size
  • Heat the pan ,add oil ,mustard seeds ,urud dal ,and cumin seeds
  • Once the seeds start splutter add chopped Garlic and Onion
  • Fry them until they become golden brown 
  • Now add broccoli sprinkle some water add enough salt,chilli powder
  • Cook them until the broccoli is tender
  • Now reduce the flame keep frying until the broccoli are roasted

kuzhipaniyaram(Karum),kara kuzhiupaniyarum

          This kuzhipaniyarum is very easy and quick one ,we can use Idly batter so no need to prepare separate batter,I think it is a great snack  and it is good lunch box dish.It is very easy all you need is panniyarum pan and batter other ingredients comes from your pantry


Ingredients:
                   Idly batter 2 cups
                   Small onion  5 nos
                   Green chill    1 
                   Shredded Carrot 1
                   Soaked Channa dal 1 tsp
                   Sliced coconut (optional) 1 tsp
                   Oil 
                   Mustard seeds
                   Curry leaves few
Method:
       *  In a pan add oil 1 tbsp ,once oil is hot enough add Mustard seeds,chopped Onion,Curry leaves
           fry for few minutes .Now add shredded Carrot and Coconut slice fry them for couple of mnts
       * Add the fried items and soaked Channa dal  to the Idle batter mix it well
       * Heat the kuzhipaniyarum pan,Add 1 tbsp oil in each kuzhi 
       * Once the oil is heated add 1 Tbsp of batter in each kuzhi 
       * Cook for couple minutes and turn the panniarum cook on the other side for another 2 mnts
       * Serve it hot with any Chutney you like
               

Dosai upma



This recipe is from my childhood our family is big ,we used to make lots of dosas for dinner, so there is always left over and one more thing these homemade dosas are not like the one we buy from shop. Homemade dosas are soft, little fat and oil free .Some times i used to make dosas in advance only to make dosa upma. Give it a try you may like it

Ingredients:
  • Left over dosa (kal dosa)  4
  • Onion medium size           1
  • Green chilly                      4
  • Curry leaves                  few
  • Oil                                2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds              1 tsp
  • Urud dal                       2 tsp
Method:

  •          It doesn't work if dosas are hot so make sure Dosas are cold (not hot) 
  •          Tear the dosa (shred them using your hand) into small pieces
  •          Chop the Onion,Green chilly into tiny pieces 
  •          Heat the pan with little oil add mustard seeds ,urud dal once they start to splutter add curry leaves ,onion ,green chilly fry them till the onion become translucent
  •         Now add the shredded dosa to the pan fry them until aroma start to come it takes at least 5 minutes stir them occasionally 
  • Serve it hot with Idly podi on the top
